about

Life along the continuum of time metaphorically represented by the river. From youth and trying to live up to my own and other's expectations, the acceptance of self-both positive and negative. and finally living a life of freedom, having come to grips with who I am and being honest about it.

lyrics

The Crossing

Verse1;
When I reach the riverside, I could go up, I could go down, I could stay dry
What is on the other side? I could be safe, I could be warm, I could still hide
On the other shoreline looming through the trees I see the mansion
That I had hoped to live in long ago
Will I ever find a place to rest, someone to comfort me?
Oh I just don’t know, I just don’t know….
When I reach the riverside

Chorus 1;
In the water I can see those flecks of gray and the reflection
That comes from life no matter how it’s lived
I had hoped someday to see that face smile back at me contented
But now I know it’s you I must forgive

Verse 2;
Now I stand here on the shore, wanting to stay, wanting to go, hoping there’s more
Wondering what I’ll face across that ragin’ river?
Gotta move on, knowing full well that’s what life’s for
Will I drown here in the currents of my life when it’s the water
That crossed my callow soul so long ago
And as I stare into the murky depths I think I see the lessons
That I have learned so many times before….
When I reached the riverside

Chorus 2;
The holy Seer speaks to me about redemption
All I can think about…I can only contemplate revenge
Never thought I face an image so Potemkin but now I realize
And seeing the whole truth just makes me cringe

Verse 3;
Now I’ve reached the other side I can see light, I can see dark, I can decide
I don’t waste my time by living in illusion…simply be here, simply be here now, enjoy the ride
I won’t try so hard to meet your expectations
Hope you sympathize and you’ll simply take me as I am
I had hoped someday to see my life turn out to be transcendent
But I am just an ordinary man

Now I’ve reached the riverside….
And I swam against the tide
And I’ve made the other side
